Video #9 - Jim Dusty - Words Of Prey - February 11, 2018

Old mate Jimmy Marchet has been around the local scene a while. longer than I've been in Canberra. He's been in so many bands in the last 5 years he should probably have his own wiki page.

Knowing this, I'm not sure why I was surprised to hear he'd started a country punk solo project in his living room, leaving the bands in the dust!

Originating up the road in Goulburn, Jim now calls Canberra home, and has earned the title of Canberra's very own "Outback Emo," forging himself as a mainstay in the underground cliques, landing on many lineups across venues and house shows alike, as well as supporting some great interstate and international acts across Canberra, and Australia.

Dusty's latest EP, "Taking Inventory" was recorded in a small listening space in the ANU School Of Music over a few sessions late last year. These sessions involved recruiting a couple of local musical heavyweights in Cass Byers on violin, and Ben Drury on double bass. With the pair filling in the gaps and adding their own flair, the Alt Country sound we have become so accustomed to had been taken to the next level.

Jim's more recent live shows as a trio have included the new tracks from "Taking Inventory," as well as songs from the previous EP, and the accompanying string section provides the sheen to the old Dusty classics.

We're happy to present the Title track from his first EP, "Words Of Prey," now with strings, birdsong, and that classic Jim Dusty charm in all it's glory, in the bushland of Mount Ainslie!

You can follow Jim Dusty on Facebook, and find the EP's here.
